The Department of Teaching and Learning at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is pleased to announce a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in Early Childhood & Childhood, Reading Education to begin fall 2024. We seek candidates with expertise in strategies, assessment, and theory of literacy instruction, including but not limited to procedures, skills, techniques, and materials for phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.The successful candidate will teach in the Department of Teaching and Learning's undergraduate B-6 generalist certification program, which graduates up to 150 B-6 teacher candidates each year. The program is supported by a full-time professional advisor and a full-time fieldwork office. The successful candidate will also pursue a program of scholarly research and publication and participate in the faculty governance system by serving on School of Education and University-wide committees.Other duties for this role include but are not limited to:
o Teach and advise students in the undergraduate Early Childhood & Childhood Education program (Note:
18 credits per academic year or the equivalent of three, 3-credit courses per semester is the standard teaching workload although release time can be given for administrative responsibilities).o Teach reading/literacy courses in the strategies, assessment, and theory of literacy instruction, including but not limited to procedures, skills, techniques, and materials for phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.o Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication.o Cultivate candidates' field experiences by working with school colleagues in rural, suburban, and urban settings.o Develop partnerships with local school districts.o Participate in faculty governance including service to the department, university, and local community by serving on School of Education and University-wide committees
Qualifications:
Required:
o An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in elementary education or a related field is required. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered.o Experience teaching in elementary education settings is requiredPreferred:
o Demonstrated effectiveness in college teachingo Experience with coordination and program administrationo A record of scholarship is highly desirableo Hold or be eligible to hold New York State licensure in elementary educationContact Information:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
