Fish and Wildlife Technician 1

Conduct mammal monitoring and research, primarily focused on New England cottontail, with occasional monitoring of listed bat species. Familiarity with mammal monitoring techniques is desired, including capture, radiotelemetry, vegetation surveying and GIS. Incumbent will also conduct outreach to landowners, map habitats, manage data collected and write summary reports of findings. Incumbent will at times assist with all other aspects of the wildlife program, including surveys for endangered and threatened species of reptiles, birds and amphibians, review of proposed development and land management projects for potential impacts to endangered and threatened wildlife species, emergency responses to wildlife situations, biological data collection on hunter-killed deer, and answering questions from the public over the telephone and in person, including questions about nuisance wildlife and hunting/trapping.

Salary Range:
From $18.22 to $18.22 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
