SUNY New Paltz, the leading comprehensive public university in the Mid-Hudson Valley, seeks candidates for the position of Social Media Content Coordinator in the Office of Communication & Marketing.
Among its many responsibilities, the Office of Communication & Marketing produces and publishes content on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Linkedin, and other platforms to connect with varied audiences and communicate the mission, culture and value of SUNY New Paltz.
The Social Media Content Coordinator supports the planning and creation of photos, videos and other content for publication across these and other media platforms to reach diverse audiences and serve the institution's strategic marketing and messaging goals.
They will work as part of an editorial social media team including students and staff at the University.
The ideal candidate will bring technical, marketing and editorial experience and expertise to the role.
The responsibilities of the role include but are limited to:
Create photo and video content that is compelling, engaging to audiences and in alignment with the University's brand positioning and strategic planning.
Help manage day-to-day publications for institutional accounts on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other platforms as assigned, including by creating and/or selecting photo, video and other media content, writing copy and embedding links in posts.
Assist in developing and executing platform-specific and audience-specific social media strategies, including organic (unpaid) content strategies and ad (paid) content strategies, to reach our audiences and increase our presence and networks on varied platforms.
Assist in gathering and creating media assets for posts, including through campus photography and videography.
Participate in strategy meetings and content brainstorming meetings and propose ideas for compelling social media content and related material to support the institution's messaging goals.
Help create, measure, assess and improve paid advertising campaigns across social media platforms, including building audience segments to reach a variety of target audiences, reporting on outcomes and helping the team adapt lessons learned into future campaigns.
Assist in using social media channels as tools for listening for our community's questions, providing responsive customer service and responding to crises as directed division leaders.
As assigned, collaborate with students, faculty and staff across the campus to support their own efforts on social media accounts and help them achieve their communication goals.
Attend institutional events, student club programs and other on- and off-campus activities for purposes of coverage and content creation, as assigned.
Film and/or photograph events and programs - both on and off campus - to create narrative videos and engaging images that reflect the mission, values, goals and objectives of SUNY New Paltz.
Collaborate with stakeholders and clients to ensure that messaging, positioning and branding is consistent throughout all assigned projects and initiatives.
Attend relevant meetings and keep current on best practices and trends through professional development opportunities.
Maintain and update creative and technical skills to build knowledge of trends, best practices and regulations in the field.
Work with campus partners to promote best practices for social media content creation and collaborate on how best to plan and publish their materials.
Assist in maintaining an appropriate structure for the flow of content internally and externally via social media platforms.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to meet the obligations of this position.
Qualifications:
Required:
Two years or more of experience in social media marketing and running branded social media accounts with demonstrated ability to promote growth and engagement.
Computer proficiency on both Macintosh and PC platforms and Macintosh and Android mobile devices.
Fluency in social media content standards, trends and audience expectations across platforms (especially TikTok and Instagram).
Ability to use a phone or mobile device to capture photography and videography.
Ability to use an online scheduler (i.
e.
Later.
com, Hootsuite) to manage a content and publication calendar.
Exceptional grammar and writing skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to travel to and from the SUNY New Paltz campus.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
Valid driver's license required.
Preferred:
Experience planning and executing paid digital marketing campaigns a plus.
